World Bank Graduate Scholarship 2023 – Fully Funded

Applications are invited for the World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2023–24. For international students from developing nations, the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) 2023 is currently accepting applications. Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility Criteria for World Bank Graduate Scholarship program 2023 are given below:

  • Be a National of a World Bank Member developing Country on This List.
  • Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country
  • Be in good health
  • Hold a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree earned at least 3 years prior to the Application Deadline date
  • Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree.
  • be working in a paid, full-time position doing development-related work at the time you submit your scholarship application. A developing country national from a nation that will be on the most recent list of fragile and conflict states published to applicants in the Application Guidelines for each call for scholarships is the only exemption to this rule.
  • Be admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the following academic year to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP preferred university master’s programs that are situated outside of the applicant’s country of citizenship and country of residence listed at the time the call for scholarship applications opens on or before the Scholarship Application Deadline date. Before submitting your application, you must upload the letter of admission. For details, see “How to Apply”.
  • The phrase “near related” is defined as Mother, Father, Sister, Half-Sister, Brother, Half-Brother, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Niece, or Nephew. You also cannot be an Executive Director, his/her alternate, or staff of any sort of appointment of the World Bank Group.

Selection Process

The JJ/WBGSP employs the following procedure to evaluate qualifying scholarship applications from citizens of poor countries with the goal of selecting the applicants with the greatest potential to have an impact on their countries’ development after completing their graduate studies.

Each eligible application is evaluated independently by two competent assessors, who then rate each application on a scale of 1 to 10, taking into account four key elements and the degree of interdependence between them:

  • Quality of Professional Experience (30% weight)
  • Quality of Professional Recommendations (30% weight)
  • Quality of Commitment to your Home Country (30% weight)
  • Quality of Education Background (10% weight)

The JJ/WBGSP Secretariat uses the average score of the two assessors and the following criteria to select the finalists:

  • Maintaining a reasonably wide geographical distribution of awards
  • Maintaining a reasonable distribution of awards across gender
